“You’re Just a Gymnastics Coach”: Turning a Label into a Leadership Career
Region 6 & 7 Friday Professional Development
Presenter(s): Tiffany Mills
Session Summary

“So… you’re just a gymnastics coach?”

I’ve heard that my whole life—until I used it as fuel to build the career I’d only dreamed of. In this session, I’ll share my journey from gymnast and part-time coach to judge, program director, and consulting business owner, and the real (sometimes uncomfortable) lessons I learned about leadership along the way.

We’ll talk honestly about the hard parts: setting boundaries, having tough conversations, advocating for yourself, and thinking like a leader even when your title doesn’t say “manager” yet. Coaches and managers will leave with practical tools to create a professional growth plan, identify their next steps, and start treating their role like the career it truly is—not something they’re “just” doing.

Organized Chaos: Making Rec & Preschool Classes Work for Neurodiverse Kids
Region 6 & 7 Saturday Special Needs
Presenter(s): Tiffany Mills
Session Summary

Neurodiverse kids are the most brilliant, enthusiastic athletes in the gym—and also the ones who leave coaches feeling exhausted and out of ideas. In this session, we’ll talk real talk about coaching in the messy middle: big feelings, short attention spans, sensory overload, and parents who are desperate for their child to belong. You’ll walk away with simple tools you can plug into class tomorrow—visuals, routines, station tweaks, and coaching language—to help neurodiverse athletes thrive without losing control of the rest of the group.
