Learn how to most effectively utilize the space you have, before getting into costly building expansions or new leases. With the cost of real estate (renting and buying) and construction going through the roof, it’s important for us gym owners to know that we are getting the most from the space we’re in before we make a costly decision to move. I’ll give gym owners “healthy student per square foot ratios” to strive for, as well as strategies to increase revenue substantially in the space they already have.
Even at the beginner level, beam is more than just a test of balance — it’s a place where gymnasts can develop confidence & character that will carry far beyond the gym. Beam is a fantastic teacher with lessons about courage, perseverance, focus, resilience and so much more. With the right words, a coach can turn a “same old” beam rotation into an empowering experience for gymnasts, no matter their level. In this session, you’ll learn a simple but powerful praise technique that will reinforce the best lessons that beam has to offer. We’re going to focus on preschool & rec beam as we practice this technique together, though it’s an amazing tool for even the most advanced coaches to learn, so that we can support our gymnasts’ growth to their fullest potential on beam, in the gym, and beyond!

Come learn this tool to help your gymnast move from a negative, limiting thought to a positive one that will help her succeed.

I also cover the very necessary core strength required to help keep the athlete’s back healthy- pulling ribs in and down (Pilates), engaging lower abs and therefore the pelvic floor (cue number of athletes with pelvic floor disfunction!) This information has been compiled from my in-house PT, Shift Movement, and local pelvic floor therapists.

Shockingly, only 5-10% of USA GymClubs have established a working Organizational Strategy (org chart) and list of Responsibilities. NO WONDER the ‘norm’ for most operators is a steady diet of urgencies, emergencies and long work weeks. This does NOT have to be YOUR norm. If you are among the 90% still operating from a ‘shoot from the hip’, ’hub and spoke’ organizational approach, this session might be the most important hour of your career.

This program focuses on establishing trust, maintaining open lines of communication, and effectively addressing concerns in a respectful and constructive manner. Participants will explore techniques for managing challenging conversations, setting boundaries, and aligning with parents to support athletes’ development.
The foundation of every lesson plan should begin with a thorough understanding of the skills being taught. Fundamental skill elements are the building blocks we use to teach more complex skills. One of the best ways to understand a skill and to teach appropriate skill mastery and performance is through teaching the individual elements of each skill. In this seminar, coaches will work together in groups, practicing deconstruction of commonly taught gymnastics skills and developing drills that will help them implement a broader focus for their preschool programs, such as movement education requires.
Practice judging Levels 3 and 4 on all events to provide a review of common and not-so-common errors.

Coaching with high standards is essential for athlete success, but how can coaches push athletes to excel without crossing the line into harmful behaviors? This workshop delves into the fine line between acceptable demanding practices and demeaning coaching. Learn to maintain high expectations with professionalism, foster trust and respect, and create a positive environment where athletes thrive under constructive, inspiring leadership.
Keep those little rascals running!!! This seminar is for the brave souls who face the challenges of coaching boys, ages 4 to 6 years old, as they move onto men’s equipment for the first time. Since straight-jackets are NOT an option, we must find ways to keep this particular group from tackling each other (or the coach) as we also attempt to teach them skill-mastery with some semblance of form.
Men’s equipment requires a great deal of strength. For this reason, it is sometimes difficult to keep classes fun. We will address class management, positive discipline and learning styles, adapting our teaching techniques to efficiently teach and effectively communicate with this age and gender group while keeping class fun while keeping your sanity and losing your dignity with our littlest musle men and super heroes. Please come ready to participate in a light-hearted dialogue, sharing ideas for fun drills specific to men’s equipment.
Rhythm/Tempo, Stop, Concentration Pause: Evaluating all Connections on Balance Beam.
In this lecture I focus heavily on clear, direct and respectful communication with athletes- and how we, as coaches, often create the “disrespectful culture” simply by the way we communicate. This lecture is a “look to yourself” deep dive- where I challenge coaches to really look inward to see how they can be part of the culture solution!

Preschool gymnastics is so much more than just the rolls and handstands. It’s about developing the whole child! Take a step back from the traditional class format, stop warming up (!!), and consider all the ways you can challenge your tiny athletes’ brains through physical movement. Teaching to the whole child for success in any endeavor, and educating their parents, can open up the possibilities for class beyond those same old drills on that same old wedge.
The goal of this session is to accurately differentiate between excellent, good, and average performances on Level 6/7 beam and floor. Upper level vaulting generally involves understanding the mechanics of the vault to be performed, then being able to generate enough power to bring that vault to a competitive surface. This talk will discuss the second part of that.
We’ve surpassed the gold star… Time to level up! Go above and beyond and watch the impact it makes in your programming, training, client relations and quality control.
As an industry, we are very lucky to have the opportunity to work with children of all ages and of all degrees of skill ability. Further, we are blessed with environments and equipment, which provide for a potentially fun-filled sport participation activity for our students. It is no wonder that so many children choose to participate in gymnastics. It’s fun.
With the rise in sensory integration disorders such as ADD, ADHD, and autism, we have to ask ourselves how we might be able to increase our knowledge and adjust our curriculums to meet the needs of an increasing population of children who need movement in their lives. We are increasingly faced with the challenge of teaching children who face their own personal challenges in dealing with and overcoming disabilities, some more severe than others. Topics covered include the coach’s role in supporting children with special needs, addressing challenges in program access, differences between mainstream and specialized approaches, and practical strategies for working with sensory, neurological, and genetic disorders.
