What can we, as coaches, do to help our athletes be the best they can be on beam? What training tactics lead to success? Gain an understanding of the importance of planning, basics, and the development of a positive mindset from the beginning!
In this lecture, we will break down the components, positions, and movement of these fundamental shapes to help your athletes become more fluid and dynamic. We will examine the biomechanics of each position and the transition between them; discuss event specific needs and training variables; and identify techniques to improve spinal movement.
Discover the underlying factors hindering gymnasts’ progress through mental blocks, along with effective strategies to guide and support gymnasts in overcoming these obstacles. Understand the biological basis of fear, common causes of mental blocks, and learn simple mental tools to help gymnasts overcome mental blocks in a way that nurtures their confidence.
Making classes FUN is the most important thing you can do to keep students enrolled, engaged and learning. It is the key to success in our industry. In this presentation, we will talk about what we can do to make our classes fun, and we will share some of our favorite games and drills that kids love.
Planning, periodization, skill selection, physical preparedness are all key in helping athletes perform to their best ability in competition. I will discuss how to manage all of these aspects in the time you have with your athletes and how your behavior during competitions can positively or negatively affect your athletes. Learn how to plan your training year to peak at the proper time and how to determine which skills to put in your athletes’ routines. Learn to evaluate your own attitudes and behaviors and how that affects your gymnasts.
We will go through the compulsory beam routines (starting with level 5) and discuss common errors and deductions. I will show drills to help fix the errors.
